『Eros-Thanatos

This artwork is rooted in 3D-scanned data of Jomon pottery (doki) from Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. The pottery depicts a scene of childbirth, symbolizing the essence of life. I have intertwined this representation of "life" with the concept of "death," which I perceive as merely another state of energy. While all materials inevitably break down, deform, or dissolve, the energy that shaped them is never lost; it simply transforms into a different form.

The Jomon people are said to have embraced a cyclical belief in life and death, viewing them as interconnected states. Through modern technology and art, I aim to reinterpret and bring their philosophy to life, utilizing full-color 3D printing to bridge the ancient and the contemporary.
